Motion Control Systems

© Fraunhofer IPA

The “Motion Control Systems” group specializes in generating, detecting and controlling movements in the areas of automotive, medical engineering and electronics.

The group is an interdisciplinary team made up of engineers and scientists from the fields of electrotechnology, mechanical engineering and mechatronics. In close cooperation with customers from research and industry, it develops innovative end-to-end solutions for products and services concerned with sensor fusion and drives. A particular focus is on testing and simulating power flows in electrical machines. Test procedures are individually planned for each customer and conducted on Fraunhofer’s in-house test benches. In the area of motion capture, sensors are calibrated for inertial sensor technology using specially-designed calibration tables. In electromobility, we coordinate the Fraunhofer System Research for Electromobility, FSEM II.
