EFFIROB: Economic feasibility studies on innovative service robot applications

In Short

EFFIROB is an extensive, free study commissioned by BMBF, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It presents the latest developments in service robotics and describes their technical and economic relevance for robotics on the basis of concrete application scenarios.

In Detail

The EFFIROB study contains a wealth of methodological material as well as software tools that provide developers and users with calculation support for making investment decisions in service robotics. The core of the methods is based on practical engineering and financial methods as well as life cycle costing (LCC). From seven possible target markets, eleven novel service robot applications were assessed for their economic feasibility. The study not only reveals the technical and economic potential of service robot applications but also identifies research needs.

The study was carried out in cooperation with Fraunhofer ISI.
