Expert for Technical Cleanliness in Assembly
VDA Volume 19 Part 2 – Technical Cleanliness in assembly
Technical cleanliness is an important quality characteristic for all functional and safety-relevant components in automotive engineering. VDA Volume 19 Part 2 deals with key influencing factors related to environment, logistics, staff and assembly equipment that can lead to (re)contamination of parts and assemblies during the production process.
This training provides an overview of the relevant principles, methods, and practical approaches for achieving and maintaining technical cleanliness across the entire process chain. Participants will learn how to approach technical cleanliness systematically, identify inefficient cleaning activities and avoid unprofitable investments.
An issue of VDA Volume 19.2 is provided to all participants. After attending the lecture day and successfully completing the exercise and test day, participants receive a digital certificate issued jointly by VDA QMC and Fraunhofer IPA.
We invite you to participate in this seminar and look forward to welcoming you.
Qualification Objectives
Participants are able to derive and evaluate measures to prevent recontamination based on cleanliness specifications. By addressing the influence factors of environment, logistics, personnel, and assembly equipment, as well as methods for measuring cleanliness-related influences, participants learn to approach technical cleanliness independently and systematically, to identify ineffective or excessive cleanliness measures, and to avoid misdirected investments.
Target Group
The training is aimed at specialists and managers in the automotive and supplier industry who are engaged in technical cleanliness and responsible for its planning and optimization. This includes assembly planners, process and production planners, logistics specialists, facility engineers, product and quality managers, as well as design and development engineers and those supporting customer-supplier interfaces.
Lecture Day (Day 1)
- Methodology and approaches for improving the technical cleanliness of products
- Design of the manufacturing environment and personnel measures
- Logistics: packaging, transport, storage, and airlock concepts from a cleanliness perspective
- Clean assembly facilities: Workstations and systems, joining processes, assembly strategies
- Measurement of cleanliness-related influences
Exercise and Test Day (Day 2)
The practical part consists of a planning exercise, which is independently developed and presented by the participants, as well as practical exercises in the Fraunhofer IPA laboratory:
- Differences between cleanliness zones, cleanliness rooms and cleanrooms
- Cleanliness-oriented behavior and appropriate work clothing
- Evaluation and selection of different packaging concepts
- Design of lock concepts
- Optimization and evaluation of assembly processes, workstations and systems
- Measurement of particles from the environment, in systems or at processes
In addition, a multiple-choice test with 30 questions is conducted.
