ROS2-Industrial Training
One day before the ROS-I EU conference, join in at Fraunhofer IPA in Stuttgart for the workshop sessions.
Register for up to two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Morning Sessions 8:30 - 12:30
Session A : ROS 2 Basic
Get to know ROS 2 – the open-source software stack for modern robotics applications!
Using practical examples, you will get an introduction to the fundamental concepts of ROS 2 and learn how robotic applications can be built from modular software components.
You will become familiar with the main ROS 2 communication mechanisms and tools, create your first ROS 2 nodes in Python, and directly apply the concepts in hands-on exercises.
Session B: ROS 2 Robot Description, TF & Camera Calibration
Build, understand and calibrate real robotic workcells with ROS 2!
Using practical examples on real robot cells, you will learn how robots, tools, sensors and their surrounding environment are represented geometrically in ROS 2 using URDF, Xacro and TF.
You will build and visualize complete robot-cell models in RViz, work with static and dynamic coordinate transformations, integrate cameras into the robot coordinate system, and perform a practical hand-eye calibration.
Through hands-on exercises, you will gain a solid understanding of how robot kinematics, coordinate frames and perception come together in real robotic applications.
Afternoon Sessions 13:30 - 17:30
Session C: ROS 2 Manipulation Planning: Motion Planning with MoveIt and Tesseract
Plan and execute robotic manipulation tasks with MoveIt and Tesseract!
Using practical examples in simulation and on real robot cells, you will learn how modern motion planning frameworks are used to generate collision-free robot motions for manipulation tasks.
You will work with MoveIt and Tesseract, explore different planning approaches, configure planning environments, add obstacles and compare sampling-based and optimization-based planners.
Through hands-on exercises, you will apply these concepts to a complete Pick & Place task and gain a practical understanding of how motion planning, collision checking and robot execution come together in real robotic applications.
Session D: Pitasc : programming framework for force-controlled (dis)assembly
Get to know our robot programming framework for force-controlled (dis)assembly – pitasc!
Using practical examples, you'll get a brief introduction to how quickly and easily modular and flexible robot programs can be created.
Highlights:
- Introduction to manufacturer-independent, force-controlled robot programming for industrial robots and cobots with pitasc
- Demonstration of reusability and flexibility using a real robot cell
